Tom Coburn on Newt: Right Conclusion, 100% Wrong Reasons
Tom Coburn says Newt is the last person he’d support for President in ’12.
Conservative Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn said Friday that Newt Gingrich is “the last person I’d vote for for president of the United States”
So far, so good. And then Coburn falls flat.
because “[h]is life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president,” … Coburn said specifically that while Gingrich is “super smart,” he “doesn’t know anything about commitment to marriage.”
First of all, let me be really clear: Newt Gingrich is a moral slug. If I had a daughter and he showed up to pick her up for a date he’d leave the house in an ambulance.
That said, that’s not the reason Newt is totally unqualified to be President. He’s unqualified because of his record as Speaker – picked a fight with Clinton and lost, losing the momentum to kill the leftist agenda once and for all. And since then, he’s sided with Hillary on health care “reform”, thinks global warming is a man-made problem and has supported “establishment” Republicans who are generally a part of the problem, see Dede for starters.
Newt is just one of the retreads who will hopefully be banished from the hierarchy of the Republican Party (at least with reference to POTUS) before the ’12 primaries.
Oh, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Coburn disappear from the public eye – and the Senate – ASAP.
