Tom Coburn on Newt: Right Conclusion, 100% Wrong Reasons

Tom Coburn says Newt is the last person he’d support for President in ’12.

Conservative Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn said Friday that Newt Gingrich is “the last person I’d vote for for president of the United States”

So far, so good. And then Coburn falls flat.

because “[h]is life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president,” … Coburn said specifically that while Gingrich is “super smart,” he “doesn’t know anything about commitment to marriage.”

First of all, let me be really clear: Newt Gingrich is a moral slug. If I had a daughter and he showed up to pick her up for a date he’d leave the house in an ambulance.

That said, that’s not the reason Newt is totally unqualified to be President. He’s unqualified because of his record as Speaker – picked a fight with Clinton and lost, losing the momentum to kill the leftist agenda once and for all. And since then, he’s sided with Hillary on health care “reform”, thinks global warming is a man-made problem and has supported “establishment” Republicans who are generally a part of the problem, see Dede for starters.

Newt is just one of the retreads who will hopefully be banished from the hierarchy of the Republican Party (at least with reference to POTUS) before the ’12 primaries.

Oh, and I wouldn’t mind seeing Coburn disappear from the public eye – and the Senate – ASAP.

Newt would be the last Republican I would support but because he TURNED on Conservatism and decided to take a seat at liberalism’s table. I will NEVER forget him with Nancy Pelosi trying to STEAL my children and grandchildrens futures with their LIES about Global Warming…..NEVER!

I’m cutting Coburn some slack here. I agree with him that I’ll not be supporting Newt. I agree with him that Newt has not exhibited a high level of personal honor.

I disagree that his dishonor is the most important reason that I can’t support Newt. The biggest reason is that he’s one of the people we trusted to take our gov’t back and he failed.

And the reason Coburn gets a pass? ‘Cause I love him. Senator Trainwreck is my man. If I could make a couple hundred Coburn/DeMint/Flake clones, I would in a heartbeat.

The Republicans are so funny, when the economy is good you say let’s all celebrate “Cinco de Mayo, my brothers” but when the economy is down “it’s all your fault, you damn immigrant”. When most Americans (with Latin America roots) go to the polls this November we will remember that the GOP has gone on a nationwide rant in proposing and passing several anti-immigration legislation (that our US Courts continue to strike down) and have continue to blame the immigrant for the flat economy or worse. We will remember who stands with us and who stands against us, so trying to stop it now is somewhat funny, but go ahead, you will not change our minds. And if thats not enough the more radical of the GOP are now attacking our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, in a misguided attempt to garner some much needed votes, they really are fools, and leading the GOP towards obscurity because they are no longer a party of ideas, just of empty suits. Your hate made you do it, in November; you will reap what you have sown. I wonder what Abraham Lincoln would say about todays GOP, he unlike the current GOP was a man of ideas.

PS – For 2012, Newt just wants another fling with another intern.
