Gee Mr. President if you hated SB1070… Part 2.

So in Part 1 this morning I noted that Russell Pearce is going to proceed with legislation in Arizona that will deny the babies of illegals “birthright citizenship”. The best part is that the Democrats can’t do a darn thing to hold it up like they will in Washington.

OK, now for Heartburn #2 for Pres, from the AZ Republic. This time on the Card Check that he just promised his union lackeys as a payoff for delivering $50M in campaign funds and the votes of a few dead folks.

Lawmakers say they have enough support to send an anti-union measure to voters this fall.
But they have to move fast: Tuesday is the deadline to get the measure on the Nov. 2 ballot.

The original measure passed by the Legislature last year would have asked voters to require a secret ballot in state-run and union elections. It was taken off the ballot in June by Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Oberbillig. He said it violated a constitutional provision that requires parts of an initiative to be substantively related.
The ruling was upheld on Tuesday by the Arizona Supreme Court.

Now legislative leaders want to hold a special session to reconfigure the wording, possibly removing the state election provision, and get the union portion before voters.
Senate President Bob Burns said he and House Speaker Kirk Adams believe they have enough members willing to come in for a three-day special session on the union issue.

So the legislature is going to put a measure on the ballot to short circuit card check. Arizona is a right-to-work state – and arguably the most anti-union state around – and if the measure hits the ballot it will pass in a walk.

I gotta tell you, I am proud to live in a state that is causing the President so much heartburn.
